Avanti Theatre Club: January Offers
07 January 2010
It's January and that means our annual Musicals Sale, with thousands of tickets reduced to a wealth of toe-tapping shows, from Hairspray and Sister Act, to Les Miserables, Oliver!, Billy Elliot and Dirty Dancing.
This month in the West End Ruthie Henshall returns to the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago. She caused a sensation when she originated the role in London, so her return to the show is greatly anticipated. Also this month Legally Blonde opens at the Savoy Theatre starring Sheridan Smith (Gavin & Stacey), Duncan James from Blue and Jill Halfpenny (Eastenders). Based on the smash-hit movie, the stage show was a huge success on Broadway and the word-of-mouth from the preview performances is that this is a big crowd-pleaser, with fabulous music and some great performances. Also opening this month is new comedy The Little Dog Laughed at the Garrick Theatre starring Rupert Friend, Tamsin Greig and Gemma Aterton, a devastatingly funny play set in Hollywood . Over at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Griff Rhys Jones has started his run as Fagin, accompanied by Jodie Prenger. And finally, it's your last chance to catch The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at the Vaudeville Theatre, where X-Factor runner-up Diana Vickers gives the performance of her life.
