Established initially as a charity to support former civil servants and their dependents we have evolved in recent years to offer charitable services to those in later life. These currently include a local community group network, two national befriending schemes (Phone Buddy & National Visitors Network) and information and advice. The group network provides a valuable service to retired and older people within the community offering an important forum for friendship and companionship, educational speakers and leisure activities. What is the appeal about? Throughout 2019 we will be celebrating the contribution our groups make to their local communities and raising funds to help support them. As part of this initiative our Chief Executive David Tickner will be visiting groups across the country to promote this initiative and encourage some local fundraising activities. All the funds we raise will go directly to support our existing and future groups. How much do we want to raise? We'd like to raise £10,000 to help support our local community groups. So far, we've raised £8,507.10 (figure as at 02/09/19). Planned Group Visits: September - December Our Chief Executive's timetable for forthcoming group visits is as follows (these maybe subject to change): 14th October Bradford on Avon 28th October Wigston 7th November Princetown Pictured above: Members of our Weston super Mare group at their January coffee morning Pictured above: Banbridge group members at their April meeting Pictured above: Salisbury Plain group enjoying their January meeting.
