Sue spent 30 years in the Home Office, including ten years as a trade union representative for FDA members, including a period as National President of the FDA. Since early retirement in 2006, Sue spent eight years as a Member of the Civil Service Appeal Board, four years as a Member of the Employment Tribunal and eight years as a Member of the Security Vetting Appeals Panel. She is also a Trustee of the FDA.

Sue also volunteers with the local Hospice charity in Brighton, where she lives and in her spare time likes to enjoy the cultural life in Brighton or spend time with her family.

She was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2014 by the National Trade Union Committee (NTUC) and is also the nominated Board-Staff Liaison Officer.
