Our Befriending Services

We launched our befriending services in 2011 with the Phone Buddy Scheme which provides a regular friendship call to any beneficiary experiencing loneliness or social isolation. This was joined in 2013 by the National Visitors Network which built on the success of the Phone Buddy Scheme to offer home companionship visits provided by volunteer befrienders.

The National Visitors Network was launched thanks to a grant received from the Civil Service Insurance Society Charity Fund and they have maintained their support annually.

Since 2011 our befrienders have provided over 7,000 calls and visits to beneficiaries experiencing loneliness in later life.

“I have two delightful ladies who I visit. The scheme is so worthwhile as these dear souls have very little quality of life but are so pleased to receive a visit."
