We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Baker CBE as our new National Honorary Chairman.

Mike is a career civil servant who is passionate about public service and his role in supporting millions of UK citizens and customers. He began his career as a clerical officer for the Department for Work and Pensions. He has led in a range of high profile Operational, Project Management and Programme roles including Operations Director for the Government’s flagship welfare reform programme, Universal Credit.

In January 2016 Mike was appointed Director, Personal Tax Operations for HMRC, leading 14,000 colleagues and serving 50 million customers. Mike was awarded MA (York) in Public Services Management in 2000.

Mike is looking forward to his new appointment and working with his fellow Board Directors and CSRF Chief Executive David Tickner, “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as the National Honorary Chairman of the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship. The Fellowship offers a unique range of services to retired civil servants, their partners and dependents. They also understand and appreciate the challenges faced in later life and have adapted to deliver invaluable support in these areas. I am looking forward to getting involved with the charity’s work and helping to maintain and develop the services they provide to their beneficiaries.”
